Getting the Most Out of LinkedIn

LinkedIn is your ultimate branding social media base

LinkedIn can be a very powerful tool that, if correctly harnessed can help you build new connections, maybe rebuild the existing ones, get the best talent and advertise to a potentially global market.

LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to place your business in before millions of valuable connections. However, like all other social media platforms, LinkedIn has to be done in the right order for your business to get any returns.

maybe you are just like me here, and actually know all of this and are feeling guilty of having your LinkedIn profile that for a long time has been dormant with minimal of no activity. I admit that for me, the only time I check my page is when get a notification to my email.

Sincerely speaking until a few months ago this is just what was happening with my twitter account. However, I recently revised my twitter apathy and trust you me, I have gained more than enough useful contacts and also built huge professional relationships. Due to this discovery, I have decided on putting in play the same effort to LinkedIn.

From my experience, I have summed up the tips for getting the most out of LinkedIn:
1.                  Never limit your network only to the people that you work with. Connect with people from various industries within your industry and those that may be of use to your career or business in future
2.                  After joining, start discussions that are worth it especially regarding your business, send messages about your business, maybe offers and promotions. Ensure you properly engage with LinkedIn but taking precaution not to become a spammer.
3.                  Thoroughly consider what you write in your profile description since the keywords within your description will be easily picked up by search bots as well as by people reading your profile. Therefore if you have expertise in a given field, ensure you mention them.
4.                  Never use your job title on your profile title as they can be misleading. Your profile title need to include area of expertise for an individual and for a corporate firm, your service profile such as SME Support etc. having this will enable people find you whenever they search for contacts.
Regularly visit your page if you are looking forward to getting the best from LinkedIn. Therefore you need to regularly visit your page so that you can keep up with discussion forums, changes on your connections profiles as well as share on whatever is going on.

LinkedIn is slowly picking up as the biggest professional social network in the world as well as a great place to build connections that can reward you and your business if correctly executed.
